As owners of Technology Base and Twente Airport, the province of Overijssel and the municipality of Enschede are working on the further development of the business park and the airport. This involves a number of challenges and tasks. Jan was planning to hand over his work to a successor this autumn due to his impending retirement. These current tasks require the solid involvement of a new director as soon as possible, who will help shape the outcome of both processes and then take charge of implementation. The new dynamics surrounding the national government's exploration into using the airport for defence purposes reinforces this. 

Jan: ‘The complex range of tasks requires a quick start for a new director and I am glad that in that context I am given the space to step down a little earlier.’ 

Jan Schuring is general director of Technology Base from December 2019. He has also assumed the directorship of the airport as an observer from January 2021. During his time as managing director, Schuring has dabbled in various dossiers and managed to bring them to a successful conclusion. Under his leadership, for instance, a new future perspective for the airport was drawn up. With a focus on the concept of test airport and sustainable forms of mobility. Under Schuring's leadership, the GR also put many important preconditions for the business park in place and all the existing real estate was put into use.

Jeroen Diepemaat, chairman of the Technology Base Joint Regulation, expresses his praise and appreciation for the way Jan Schuring has led Technology Base and Twente Airport. "I would like to thank Jan warmly for his dedication and leadership during his time as managing director. Thanks to Jan, we have been able to make great strides in recent years in terms of new activity for the region. And were able to work together on a healthy operation of Twente Airport. Jan Schuring will bid farewell to the organisation from both positions in July.
