Training and testing drones in the dark
Within current laws and regulations, drones cannot be flown in the dark. In anticipation of the new laws and regulations, Space53 partner State of Motion/Drone Flight Company has received a waiver from Inspectorate for the Environment and Transport (ILT) to fly and test drones outside the daylight period at our test site with their other partners Robor Electronics and Float 360 during the week of 9 to 13 December.
During this week, Space53 is offering developers and drone pilots the opportunity to take part in one of its evening flights on 12 and 13 December.
Drone pilots
Drone pilots who want to experience what it is like to fly in the dark ahead of the new laws and regulations can use one of Space53's systems, which will be equipped with night lights to increase the necessary visibility of the drones. The systems are also fitted with nightvision cameras that provide the necessary visibility for the drone to fly safely over the Twente Airport site.
Flying with your own system
Entrepreneurs who have developed an unmanned system that should be able to perform night flights in the future will also be given the opportunity to fly it in the dark now!
