More opportunities testbed unmanned systems
The knowledge meeting ‘Europe open for drones - opportunities for the Netherlands’ organised by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management was held on Thursday 11 April. During this meeting, important statements were made about expanding opportunities for test sites of unmanned systems, such as Space53 at Technology Base.
Soon, the European Council will vote on European regulations for drones. As a result, our national regulations will be replaced by EU regulations for civilian drones.
These European regulations offer new opportunities for drones and pave the way for innovations. This also creates opportunities for the Dutch drone industry and test sites, such as Space53.
Experimental zones
The new European drone legislation allows zones to be designated where more or less is allowed than in public spaces. Petra Syaifoel from the Ministry of IenW made an important commitment: the Netherlands will soon come up with well-suited regulations for test sites like Space53. So we don't have to wait for Europe for this!
Jan Hendrik Dronkers, Director-General of Aviation and Maritime Affairs at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management called on those present to come to Technology Base: ‘Come to Twente for testing and experimenting. Here you will find wonderful facilities and lots of space’.
Are you looking for an experimental site with ideal conditions for safely developing, testing and experimenting with new materials and systems or for educating and training people? With us at Technology Base, you have access to a 3 km runway, various indoor and outdoor areas within a protected environment.
