JFD Global
JFD Global (formerly JFD Ortega) manufactures ‘Swimmer Delivery Vehicles’, which are designed with the aim of transporting divers quickly and comfortably. Divers are rather limited in their speed and range and can carry very few materials. The new generation dive boat reaches speeds of up to 15km/h above and below water and features large cargo spaces and a considerable range due to innovative battery applications. An important aspect of the design is that JFD Ortega uses the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality glasses. This makes the design of the submarines more visual and allows them to test the ergonomics before production.
The layout of the shelter housing JFD Global was developed by Technology Base, in consultation with Filip Jonker and his associate Daan Pol. They created their own layout with as little office as possible. It had to look as much like a ship as possible.
Customers of JFD Global come from all over the world.
‘In their experience, we are nicely centrally located between Düsseldorf and Amsterdam,’ says Pol.
Because of the small airport, customers with a private jet can even get off at the doorstep.
"We are in such a special place here. All the space, without being disturbed."
According to Jonker, that does a lot to and for his customers.
"Everything is so clean and green and high-tech. It feels different from yet another warehouse in the west of the country. We can really work hyper-concentrated on something here. With much more creativity."
Ortega settled at Technology Base in 2014. They engage their neighbours from Dynteq in component development. They also work a lot with the University of Twente, Saxion and ROC van Twente. Ortega was acquired by JFD Global, a global player in underwater equipment. The Ortega branch is and will remain the true ‘R&D headquarters’ for JFD, where creative thinking development power is inextricably linked.
